In lipedema, is ketogenic nutrition or low-carb more sustainable?

I have read a lot about keto, but honestly it scares me. I feel like I may not even manage the first week. Some say low-carb is more sustainable. In lipedema, is the goal necessarily ketosis, or can simply reducing carbohydrates help?

I fell apart when I tried very strict keto. At first it seemed okay, but constipation and fatigue made me stop.

flaxseed is good for constipation, and also you need to drink plenty of water. but then constipation passes.

@Beste N. I believe that flaxseed is not used in lipedema

Low-carb was more realistic for me. Even reducing bread made the evening fullness a bit lighter, but it was not a miracle.

Bread is hard for me too. I do well for two days and then go back to the start.

Could reducing carbohydrates only at dinner help without doing keto?

Nutrition in lipedema should not be forced into one model. Ketogenic nutrition may support some people by reducing hunger fluctuations, edema sensation, and evening heaviness, but it may not be sustainable for everyone. A more moderate low-carb approach can be more practical for some patients. See ketogenic nutrition and lipedema.

Okay, doctor, I think not starting too strictly makes more sense. Otherwise I may quit after three days.

@Melis S. K. I think starting with 40 grams and reducing it is the most logical.
