Can evening sweet cravings in lipedema be related to insulin resistance?

I am more controlled during the day, but after 9 p.m. I start craving sweets. Then the next day my legs feel more swollen. Is this purely psychological, or could it be related to insulin resistance?

For me, it happened more when dinner was too light. Without blaming yourself, it may help to check whether dinner is satisfying enough.

This part is tiring. Sometimes it feels like I am doing things, but my body does not respond the way I expect.

I think looking at it only as “I ate sweets, so I swelled” creates too much stress. Sleep, stress, and hunger can overlap on the same day too.

A moderate low-carb approach was easier for me than very strict keto. I felt less pressure and could continue longer.

My dietitian helped me make the plan less strict. That was easier for me than trying to be perfect every day.

Evening sweet cravings alone do not mean insulin resistance; however, blood sugar fluctuations, insufficient protein/fat intake, poor sleep, stress, and restrictive eating can increase cravings. In lipedema, metabolic status and nutrition should be evaluated together. See lipedema and insulin resistance and emotional eating in lipedema.

Nutrition in lipedema should be individualized. Low-carb or ketogenic patterns may help some people, but sustainability, bowel tolerance, sleep, and metabolic status should be considered together. See lipödem ve insülin direnci.

This made it clearer for me. I think I was trying to make everything perfect and then giving up quickly.

I tried this too, but I could not keep it going at first. When it felt too strict, I stopped completely.
